🥢 Korean Dining & Etiquette Tips

Wait for the eldest person at the table to start eating first before you begin your meal.
Do not touch food with your fingers — except when making a lettuce wrap (ssam), which is customary.
Never stick chopsticks or spoons upright in a bowl of rice — this resembles a funeral ritual.
Use a spoon to eat rice (not chopsticks).
After the meal, place your chopsticks and spoon back where they were set, neatly on the table.

🧭 Etiquette in Korean Homes & Public Spaces

Remove your shoes when entering Korean homes, temples, or guesthouses.
A simple bow or polite nod is considered the most respectful greeting.
When giving or receiving anything (like gifts or money), use both hands as a sign of courtesy.
There is no tipping culture in Korea.
